In the name of anti-aging,

we wear make-up, dye our hair, lather up with wrinkle creams, inject fillers, deaden nerves in our face and even cut off excess skin, all of which actually accelerates aging. Now that’s ironic.

Many of you have taken this quarantine as a time to live like an Amish milk maid. No manis, no pedis, no haircuts, colors, beliage or waxing. Some of you even went a little “land of the lost” and didn’t shave! And how many of you loved it?

Well regardless of how ‘al naturale” you decided to go, I think we enjoyed some level of not fussing over ourselves.

Now that we have all given this chemical saturation fiasco a break, what if we try something different before we jump back in to it . Lets first arm ourselves with some knowledge.

Xenoestrogens are chemicals that are in almost ALL make-up and beauty pand skin care products. Xenoestrogens mimic or pretend to be estrogen. Estrogen is a hormone that is crucial for healthy life in both men, women, infants and children. The problem is that estrogen is very potent and needed in relatively small amounts in the body at different times in the month or imbalances can happen easily. A Xenoestrgoen is just as potent but rushes in and hijacks all the receptors that estrogen uses. Wreaking havoc on everything from fertility, to body weight, menstrual cycles, erectile function, sleep, blood sugar, mental health and healthy aging.

The first thing we need to do…

is familiarize ourselves with what they are called so we can clean out or cabinets and make-up bags and slowly begin to replace them with healthier options devoid of Xenoestrogens. You can click here to study up on all the different types of Xenos and where they can be found but for now, you can start here:

  • 4-Methylbenzylidene camphor (4-MBC)
  • Parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben and butylparaben commonly used as a preservative)
  • Benzophenone

The next thing to do….

is start clearing out our systems of these nasty things, here are a few ways:

Now to lay a healthy foundation…

for your gut and hormones and use products that are not just devoid of Xenoestrogens but actually contain nutrition for your whole body inside and out:

And of course a diet filled with dark leafy green veggies and especially broccoli, broccoli sprouts because the chemical sulforaphane in these foods helps to get rid of these nasty fake estrogens and helps you to convert and process your own estrogens in a healthy way, which protects us from hormonal cancers and other hormonal imbalances.

We don’t have to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to beauty products, we can find a happy place to still feel good about looking ‘cute’ and not age ourselves on the inside while doing it.
